I decided to brave the recent dreamy weather and head east for a night out at club 333. Coming straight off work, I had plenty of time to kill. Pre-drinks can often be tricky! What did he want? Music but nothing too hectic, great drinks but not terribly expensive, great atmosphere but no entry fees and I wanted more than a pub! A tough customer! So after walking (quite a lot) with my mates down Old Street, we discovered some Great old street and bars in Shoreditch. to fit the bill:
1) Loungelover – What a magical bar! You walk in and are greeted by an intentional hodgepodge of eclectic styles. My eyes didn’t know where to look! Glamorous, weird, crazy, elegant, it all came to mind. Having cleaned up the drool we headed to the bar. The cocktails are fantastic and have brilliant names! If you like to be wowed by a London pub or impress others with a bar in shoreditch then Loungelover is a must. Also, if you are visiting London as a tourist, I would say that Loungelover is one of the cocktail bars in London that you should also treat yourself to; Make sure you have enough pounds in your pocket as this is not a cheap London pub! Not only expensive for the Shoreditch area, but also comparable to central or Mayfair bars.
2) The Redchurch: Coming from Loungelover, the next venue had a lot to live up to. We meet the Redchurch. It definitely can’t match the interior of Loungelover (there aren’t many bars in London or definitely bars in Shoreditch) but the small, intimate setting, with a mix of French Baroque, floral wallpaper and sumptuous red velvet booths, made The Redchurch a must. very interesting. . What did coincide with its predecessor was the great cocktail menu. This is a great little find and highly recommended. If you want an unpretentious cocktail bar in Shoreditch, The Redchurch is one I can highly recommend.
3) 333 Mother Bar: So we needed to speed up a bit and it was getting pretty late so why not go to a bar right next to the club you want to go to? So that’s what we did! Mother Bar is a two room LondonDJ bar upstairs. The first bar, with its French-style wallpaper and black and white tiled floor, is quite striking and a good place to have a drink and sit and chat. Walk next door and everything becomes very lively; a once boxy living room is now a huge dance floor with everyone jumping up and down to the incessant beat of the house. Drink prices are happily affordable and they did the job before we got down to £333. Be warned, Mother Bar gets busy and queues from 10pm onwards and also gets pretty busy up top. If you don’t like dancing in crowded bars, this might not be for you.
