As I look at the lives of many Christians, I am amazed at how little impact there is on those with whom we interact. Walking with God and serving him requires denial, commitment, vision, wisdom, and wealth. Below are seven powerful principles that will make your Christian life relevant.

one. Understand the source and nature of temptations.

One thing that you must have established in your heart is that as long as you serve the Lord, Satan will tempt you to frustrate your Christian life. The Lord can test us but he cannot tempt us with evil, this must be very clear in your heart and mind. In order to have victory in our daily Christian life, it is advantageous to know exactly what is happening in our lives.

What is the impact of what we are facing, is it bringing us to our knees or is it driving us away from God? Is it producing in us love, patience, faith, peace, constancy or is worry, restlessness and unbelief dominating us? These questions must be answered if we wish to overcome our temptation. Understand what is a test and what is a temptation, also what is the nature of the situation as best you can see it.

two. Have an understanding of the quality of God’s gift.

The Christian life is affected by what is going on around us and the personal issues in which we are involved. To avoid any tendency to burnout, it is important to evaluate God’s gifts to us, such as grace, mercy, peace, salvation, joy, and many others. The more you focus on what the Lord has made available to us, the less you will be distracted from your Christian life. We must carefully weigh what we have received on the authority of the written word. See Luke 11:10-13 and Proverbs 10:22.

3. Prepare to listen than to speak

The Bible says that the more words we speak, the more likely we are to sin. It is better to be silent sometimes than to live the rest of your Christian life apologizing for what you said: “He who guards his mouth and his tongue guards his soul from trouble” (Proverbs 21:23, NIV). Even in prayer it is appropriate to listen and give the Lord a chance to speak to our spirit. You don’t have to always be the one doing the talking, you’ll gain more by listening.

Four. Practice living the Word

Much of the lack of power, faith, and fruit in our lives results from not acting on God’s word. The word of God must govern our actions. It makes no sense to listen to the word and not apply it to our Christian life. The power of the word is revealed with the application, try it, you will be surprised.

5. personal advice

How do you live up to the word of God, do you obey it, excuse it or rejoice in living it? We are called to take stock of our lives by making sure we are still standing in our faith. So much is happening around us that we can be caught up in the web of events without knowing that we have been sidelined from the call. When you examine your life in light of God’s word, you can make the necessary amendments that will put you back on the path of God’s will.

6. Show bowels of compassion

The principle of compassion is greatly neglected in our Christian life today. Jesus was moved by compassion all the time before he ministered to the crowds. The lack of compassion in the Christian life denies the necessary sources that could impact others. It is written: “Furthermore, all be of the same mind, compassionate with one another, love one another as brothers, be merciful, be courteous; ye shall inherit a blessing” (I Peter 3:8-9, KJV). There you have it loud and clear.

7. Be sensitive and holy

Be sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and how you treat others. The Christian life is frozen by sacrifice. It is important to keep others in mind as we live our faith and strive by God’s grace to be holy in our spirit. Without a life of holiness, we will not see the Lord, so be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit is telling you and where he is leading you.

Remember that you are the salt of the world, you give flavor and taste to the bitter life of the people around you. Make of your Christian life that light that shines from the top of the mountain and the Lord will be pleased with you and through you.
