With over 25 years of experience in designing, retailing and buying menswear for my own collection and other high-end Italian clothing collections, I can say that watching these debates without sound is quite interesting in depending on what candidates wear for each. . I don’t know who makes them or where they are made. I think the interest in his jerseys is mainly due to the size and height of his neck compared to the other candidates.
Most dress shirts have a standard collar height at the back of 1.25 to 1.5 inches. That neck height tends to suit more people, as it gives you room to move your head and doesn’t come up too high against your jaw line. If you notice Rick Perry’s shirts, his neck is getting closer or may be two inches high. The reason I’m saying this, without first hand knowledge, is that I personally have a long neck and love a two inch necklace. For me, it’s in the right place, under the jaw line. My head doesn’t look like it’s sitting on the necklace itself. I can also show more of my shirt collar sticking out from the back of my suit jacket collar.
If you watch the YouTube replay of the various debates, you can see that his neck is high and comes close to his jaw line. For his body shape and style, a neck that is close to two inches is too high for him. You should have a standard neck height of 1.25 to 1.5 inches. I think that would make it look more presentable and more presidential, if your shirt collar makes you look like a president. I guess nowadays you need everything to go your way and win a nomination or an election. The wrong color can put you out of business as the photo can go around the world in a matter of seconds.
My conclusion, as you can deduce from the previous paragraph, is that Rick Perry needs to change his shirt. It’s not that the quality isn’t good or the fit isn’t up to scratch, but the style of the neck in relation to the style of your body is not giving you the best presentation you can have in front of the American media and the American public. . As subtle as a proper shirt collar can be, new, clean and fresh is extremely important.
